Silver Bay YMCA Conference & Retreat Center
On beautiful Lake George in upstate New York
This year’s gathering is framed by the four spiritual practices named in Acts 2:42. The earliest believers “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.“
We will gather in worship, around tables, over food, and in the beauty of God’s good Creation!
In addition to fun, fellowship, and sabbath, we will also delve into the tradition of our faith, examining three of the most recent confessional statements of the Church: the Brief Statement of Faith, the Confession of Belhar, and the Sarasota Statement. These statements speak to the pressing realities of our time, and so in discussions and small groups we will explore the themes they raise of the activity of the Holy Spirit, our calling to community, and the Church’s call to address institutional imbalances of power.
“In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage”* and so we invite you to gather with us to pray, rest, and prepare for the work we are called to do in our unique contexts.
Registration is $100 per participant, but cost is never prohibitive. Please contact Amaury Tañón-Santos if you need assistance. The registration deadline is October 20, 2017.
Funding is heavily subsidized by the Synod for participants during the Gathering, but if you would like to bring your family and/or extend your stay at Silver Bay before or after the event, you are welcome to do so at your own expense. Contact Amaury for more details and to make arrangements.
