First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge, NJ seeks a part-time Director of Music. Hours average 10-20 hours each week based on preparation, practice and service times. Responsibilities and requirements include:

  • Planning music for 10:20 am Sunday worship under the guidance of the Pastors (including hymns, anthem, prelude, postlude and offertory)
  • Rehearsing and conducting the volunteer adult vocal Sanctuary Choir (15 – 20 voices).
  • Providing music for annual Maundy Thursday Evening and Christmas Eve (two services) worship, and occasional community Ash Wednesday and Thanksgiving services.
  • Training in pipe organ/piano performance and choral conducting is required and hand bell choir conducting experience is a plus.

The First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown, NJ is seeking a part time Adult Music Director beginning September 1, 2017. A college degree in music is desirable, but not required. Strong organ and piano skills are a must as well as choral/vocal techniques. Responsibilities include playing organ and piano at Sunday morning worship services, organizing and rehearsing Adult and Bell Choirs, organizing other musical activities including guest musicians, summer soloists and the Praise Band. All choirs rehearse weekly (currently on Wednesday evenings) and Sunday mornings before the service. Services are at 10:30 am Sunday mornings with additional holiday services during the year.

Experience as a church organist/choir director is preferred. This 12 month position will require approximately 10 hours per week. Salary will be based upon experience.
